Firefighters Sunday stopped the forward rate of spread of a 25-acre brush fire in The Temecula Valley Wine Country.
The fire was reported at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the 32700 block of Rancho California Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. That location is east of Butterfield Stage Road, near several wineries, including Thornton, Callaway and Europa Village.
At the initial time of report, the fire was burning between 5 to 7 acres, but grew to 25 before the forward rate of spread was stopped around 4 p.m.
It was unclear if the brush that was burned included any grapevines from area vineyards.
Firefighters expected to remain on scene for several hours for full containment and mop-up.
The cause of the fire was not immediately clear, and no injuries were reported.
