The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Monday to its highest amount since Oct. 6, 2023, increasing 1.2 cents to $6.044, one day after rising eight-tenths of a cent.

The average price is 5 cents more than one week ago, $1.054 higher than one month ago and $1.12 greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 45 cents less than the record $6.494 set on Oct. 5, 2022.

The run of increases to the Orange County average price was extended to nine in 10 days, but barely, rising two-tenths of a cent to $5.973, its highest amount since Oct. 5, 2023. It has risen 7.4 cents over the past 10 days, including 1.7 cents on Sunday. The average price increased five consecutive days, dropped 1.4 cents on Thursday, and resumed rising the following day.

The Orange County average price is 4.2 cents more than one week ago, 99.7 cents higher than one month ago and $1.084 greater than one year ago. It is 48.6 cents less than the record $6.459 set on Oct. 5, 2022.

Prices were rising slightly in line with seasonal norms before the joint U.S./Israel attack on Iran on Feb. 28 sent oil prices higher and drastically accelerated increases at the gas pump.

The national average price rose to its highest amount since Aug. 4, 2022, increasing nine-tenths of a cent to $4.119. It has risen nine consecutive days, increasing 14.3 cents, including six-tenths of a cent on Sunday.

The national average price is 12.9 cents more than one week ago, 79.9 cents higher than one month ago and 86.1 cents greater than one year ago. It is 50.5 cents less than the record $6.373 set on Oct. 5, 2022.
