The Hollywood Rush will return to Los Angeles later this month, bringing together actors, writers and directors to create and stage original plays in less than 24 hours to benefit young people who have experienced foster care, organizers announced Tuesday.
The event will be held Sept. 27 at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre and will benefit FosterMore, a nonprofit organization that supports young people who have experienced foster care.
Participants scheduled to take part include Tony Hale, Adam Shankman, Ben Falcone, Rachael Harris, Gloria Calderón Kellett, Peter Paige, Annie Gonzalez, Adam Faison, Angel Parker, Erinn Hayes, Lucy DeVito, Kandyse McClure, Kat Foster and Zibby Allen, among others.
The creative process will begin Sept. 26, when writers receive themes inspired by FosterMore and spend the night writing their plays. Directors will join the writers the following morning to review the scripts, and actors will rehearse throughout the day before performing the newly created works that evening.
Each play will have its own director, with Shankman providing overall creative direction, organizers said.
“We’re proud to bring together an incredible community of writers, directors and actors and offer them a platform to use their talent to spark change, which is at the heart of The Hollywood Rush,” Allen, a producer of the event, said in a statement.
The event will also include a youth-led performance by participants from Kids in the Spotlight, who will work with writers and directors from The Hollywood Rush community to develop original material for the stage.

All proceeds from the event will benefit FosterMore.
