A grass fire burned one-quarter of an acre in Sherman Oaks and prompted the issuance of a SigAlert Friday evening.
The fire that broke out near a transition road from the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway to the westbound Ventura (101) Freeway was reported at 8:15 p.m. Friday, with a knockdown declared 39 minutes later at 8:54 p.m., according to Jamie Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
There were initially two spots of the fire burning — one 25 feet by 100 feet and the other 40 feet by 40 feet, Stewart said.
No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened.
The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert for the transition road of the southbound San Diego Freeway to the westbound Ventura Freeway around 8:45 p.m. and canceled it around 9:15 p.m.
