A four-hour police search for a gunman who shot and killed a man in Highland Park ended early Wednesday without an arrest.

The shooting occurred about 9:20 p.m. Tuesday outside 6052 Fayette St. The man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was identified this afternoon as Conrad Reyes Gomez, 26, of Los Angeles, said Assistant Coroner Chief Ed Winter.

Sgt. Wayne Guillary of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Northeast Station said officers set up a perimeter in the area of York Boulevard and Figueroa Street and used a police dog to try to locate the gunman. The unsuccessful search ended about 2 this morning.
