A 23-year-old Glendale man suspected of using his job as an Uber driver to cover for illegal drug sales was free on bail Friday after being arrested on drug charges.

Detectives received a tip earlier this month about a suspected prescription drug dealer at a home in the 1100 block of Thompson Avenue and conducted surveillance on the residence, Lightfoot said.
About 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, detectives detained Avakian after he was observed in an alleged drug transaction on Thompson Avenue, she said.
A search warrant was served at his home, where police seized three rifles, a shotgun, a pistol, $19,670 in cash, over 450 prescription pills including opiates and amphetamines, 20 MDMA/Ecstasy pills, 13 bags of cocaine, an ounce of psilocybin, a bag of methamphetamine, a digital scale, packaging, and a “cell phone with several text messages indicative of narcotics sales.”
“During the investigation, detectives learned that Avakian was employed as an Uber driver for two years and it is suspected that he used the position as a cover to sell drugs,” Lightfoot said.
Avakian posted $30,000 bail on Wednesday and is due to appear in Glendale Superior Court on Nov. 13, authorities said.
