Police Wednesday released video of a hit-and-run crash in south Los Angeles that left a 40-year pedestrian in critical condition.

The victim was initially struck by a Mercedes-Benz about 4:20 a.m. Saturday as he walked in the middle of Main Street near Vernon Avenue. An SUV then hit the downed man, who ended up beneath the vehicle, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The Mercedes driver initially pulled over, got out of the car and walked toward the victim, but then left the scene, police said.

Firefighters took the critically injured victim to a hospital.

The Mercedes is described as a black four-door model with custom rims and the suspect as a bald, dark-skinned man weighing about 220 pounds and wearing a blue NFL-style jacket, gray pants and a gray hoodie.

Anyone with information about the crash or the suspect was urged to call detectives with the LAPD’s Central Traffic Division at (213) 833-3713. After- hours or weekend calls should be directed to (877) LAPD-24-7.

Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers by calling (800) 222-TIPS.

Tipsters could be eligible for a reward of up to $50,000.
