Two people who were killed in a three-vehicle, chain reaction crash on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Glendora were identified Sunday by authorities.
They were identified as Luisa Morales Gonzalez, 76, of Lawndale and Edgar Ramirez, 19, of Riverside, according to coroner’s investigator Rudy Molano and the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at 3:56 p.m. Saturday on the eastbound Foothill (210) Freeway at Sunflower Avenue, CHP Officer Alex Rubio said.
The CHP reported that Gonzalez and Ramirez were passengers in a 2005 Honda Civic driven by Alfredo Ramirez, 23, of Riverside. The crash also involved a 2009 Ford F-250 pickup truck and a 2017 Honda Accord.
The crash may have been triggered by Grace Morillo, 46, of Winnetka, the CHP said. She was possibly speeding in a 2017 Honda, encountered slow traffic, and then rear-ended the Honda driven by Ramirez.
That second Honda was shoved into a Ford pickup truck driven by Jose Macias, 33, of Van Nuys, according to the CHP. Gonzalez and Ramirez were killed in that second Honda.
Witnesses told the CHP that the Honda was smashed between the two vehicles, Rubio said.
The CHP crash report did not indicate if any of the drivers were cited.
The elder Ramirez was taken to Pomona Valley Medical Center with complaints of pain to his neck. No other injuries were immediately reported.
Neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in the crash, the CHP said.
Two lanes were closed at the Sunflower offramp through about 8:20 p.m. Saturday.
The CHP’s Baldwin Park office asked anyone who saw the crash to call them at (626) 338-1164.
