A 29-year-old motorist in Baldwin Hills was killed Saturday when his car hit a guardrail near the Kenneth Hahn State Park Recreation Area.

The crash on southbound La Cienega Boulevard, south of Kenneth Hahn Street Recreation Area Drive, occurred about 4:10 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported.

The motorist, a resident of Carson and the lone occupant inside a 1995 Acura, was going southbound about 70 miles per hour when he made an unsafe turning movement to the right, causing the car to strike the metal guardrail.

The vehicle then struck the center metal guardrail, continued in a westerly direction where it hit another guardrail and stopped.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The CHP’s West Los Angeles office asked anyone with information regarding the crash to call them at (310) 642-3939.
