A woman was stabbed to death and a man died of a gunshot wound Friday in Lynwood in what investigators believe was a murder-suicide that occurred in the presence of the married couple’s two children.
The deaths were reported about 8:45 a.m. in the 4200 block of Carlin Avenue, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
When deputies responded to the scene to investigate a medical emergency call, they found a woman with multiple upper-body stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene, sheriff’s Deputy Morgan Arteaga said.
They also found a man with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He, too, was pronounced dead at the scene, Arteaga said.
“The preliminary investigation revealed that the male and female were married with two juvenile children, a 12 year old male, and an 11 year old female,” Arteaga said. “It appears that the male, who is being classified as the suspect, stabbed the female victim to death, before shooting himself.”
The children were at the location when the deadly violence occurred, the deputy said.
The names of the couple were withheld pending family notifications.
