The coroner’s office Saturday released the name of a Philadelphia man killed in a gang-related shooting in Compton.
Donte Johnson was 30 years old, the coroner’s office said.
The fatal shooting occurred about 2:10 p.m. Friday in the 600 block of North Long Beach Boulevard, near Rosecrans Avenue, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Alejandra Parra said.
Johnson died from a gunshot wound to the head, the coroner’s office said. He was pronounced dead in a parking lot.
During their investigation, deputies learned that four additional men who were injured in the shooting arrived at hospitals, Parra said.
Their injuries were not considered life-threatening, according to Parra.
Details on the events that led to the shooting were not immediately released, but the sheriff’s department said it was gang related.
The shooter fled in a vehicle, Parra said.
