Christian Rangel died at the scene of the shooting, which occurred at about 11:45 p.m. Monday near Superior Street and Columbus Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Officers sent to the area on a report of shots fired found a Toyota Corolla stopped in the middle of Columbus Avenue, the LAPD reported.

“A male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound was found in the driver’s seat,” the LAPD said. “The officers removed the victim from the vehicle and performed CPR on him.”

Paramedics pronounced Rangel dead at the scene.
