Sprinklers put out the fire in a trash cute at a 35-story high-rise building in downtown Los Angeles.

The fire was reported at 7:41 p.m. in a trash chute in the residential building at 1212 S. Flower St., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Margaret Stewart.

“It appears there was a small fire in a trash chute which was extinguished by the automatic fire sprinklers,” Stewart said. “There are no injuries reported and no damage to the structure.”

Firefighters were left to systematically clear smoke from each floor, she said.
