The Riverside County Fire Department contained a small brush fire in Mecca Sunday.
The fire was reported at 12:30 p.m. in the 65800 block of Grapefruit Boulevard. It was burning in heavy fuels with a moderate rate of speed. The fire department said the blaze was contained to 1 acre.
Firefighters conducted a firing operation to mitigate threats to railroads and power line infrastructure in the area. They advised the public to use caution in the area as fire personnel remained on scene for extensive mop-up.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
