A 49-year-old Garden Grove woman made her first court appearance Tuesday in two separate cases of embezzling more than $1.2 million from two Santa Ana-based companies.

Kathy Lynn Martinez, who was arrested Friday, appearance at the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana, but her arraignment was rescheduled for July 12, according to court records.

According to court records, Santa Ana police said she allegedly embezzled $151,389.46 over six months from Specialty Steel when she worked as an accounting manager. When she was arrested, she allegedly admitted to taking $105,588.54, police said in court papers.

According to the criminal complaint in another case, she was accused of embezzling $1,132,180.22 from Roche Excavating from May 2013 through March 2019.

Martinez is charged with 10 felony counts in the Roche case and 15 felonies in the Specialty Steel case, according to court records. The charges include grand theft and money laundering with sentencing enhancements for aggravated white collar crime between $100,000 to $500,000 and more than $500,000, according to court records.
