A two-vehicle crash in West Los Angeles Saturday initially trapped one person in each vehicle, then sent them to a trauma center in grave condition.

The crash was at 5:58 p.m. in the 1500 block of South Sepulveda Boulevard, at Ohio Avenue, said the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Brian Humphrey. The location is next to the Bad News Bears Field.

Firefighters used hydraulic tools to free both patients for transport to a regional trauma center in grave condition, Humphrey said.

A third patient from one of the vehicles, who was not trapped, was hospitalized in serious condition, he said.

Two good Samaritans who tried to free the trapped patients before firefighters arrived suffered minor injuries but declined treatment, he said.

Sepulveda Boulevard was closed between Ohio and Massachusetts avenues for the Los Angeles Police Department investigation, he said.
