A pedestrian died Saturday after being struck by a car in Jurupa Valley, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department announced.
The crash was reported at about 3 a.m. Saturday on Mission Boulevard just east of Wineville Road, according to the sheriff’s department.
Arriving deputies found the pedestrian severely injured in the roadway, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
Investigators said the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Mission Boulevard when the pedestrian stepped into the roadway crossing into eastbound lanes of traffic and was struck.
The driver was uninjured and remained on scene to cooperate with deputies.
It was unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
The identity of the pedestrian was not immediately available pending notification of next of kin.
