A man was taken into custody Thursday in connection with a multiple-vehicle crash that killed a 23-year-old homeless man in an unincorporated near Whittier.

California Highway Patrol officers were called at 7:50 p.m. Wednesday to Mills Avenue and Mulberry Drive regarding a crash that possibly involved four vehicles, CHP Officer Sean Lough told City News Service.

According to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner, Aldo Romero was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was not immediately known what caused the crash or what the man was arrested for.

His name was withheld pending an investigation into the crash.
