Several firefighters were injured Thursday, at least two critically, in an explosion involving a truck with pressurized cylinders in the Wilmington area.
Firefighters were sent to the 1100 block of North Alameda Street shortly before 7 a.m., according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
“Firefighters responded to a truck with pressurized cylinders on fire,” Prange said. “An explosion on scene injured multiple firefighters. Three have already been transported to a local hospital — at least two in critical condition.
“Several other injured are being evaluated on scene, awaiting additional ambulances to arrive — (an) estimated seven total firefighters,” Prange said.
The circumstances of the blast were under investigation. Motorists were advised to avoid the area.
