A woman accompanied by a child was taken into custody Thursday after a confrontation — which may have escalated into a stabbing — at a bus stop in the South Los Angeles area that left another woman hospitalized.

Paramedics were sent to Slauson Avenue and Figueroa Street about 8:35 a.m. Thursday, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. A person was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, the LAFD reported.

Officers sent to the area on a report of a possible stabbing took a woman into custody, according to police, who said the suspect was accompanied by a child about 7 or 8 years of age. The suspect was allegedly armed with a knife, according to reports from the scene.

It was unclear if the victim was stabbed.
