A 64-year-old man was found dead Saturday morning, the victim of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on the sand at Corona Del Mar Main Beach in Newport Beach, authorities said.
The firearm was located, according to the Newport Beach Police Department.
Police received a call at 5:37 a.m. of a man found on the sand. Officers located the Orange County resident, who was by himself.
“This was an insolated incident and there is no threat to the community,” according to a police statement. “The incident is still being actively investigated.”
