A California Highway Patrol officer was rushed to a hospital in unknown condition after he was struck by a vehicle Sunday morning while assisting with a disabled vehicle on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Sylmar, authorities said.
The crash occurred shortly after 3:26 a.m. on the southbound freeway, north of the State Route 14, when the officer was dispatched sent to the location, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Paramedics transported the officer to a hospital. His condition was not known.
The CHP said the southbound freeway, north of State Route 14, has been closed for an unknown duration.
