One of two men killed in a shooting in the Vermont-Vista area that police say might be gang-related was identified Thursday.
The shootings were reported at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday. Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Newton Division responded to a smoke shop at 8651 Figueroa St. near Manchester Avenue. When they arrived, witnesses told them the victims were inside the shop and were approached by two men in their 20s who opened fire and shot them multiple times before leaving, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.
Los Angeles Fire Department personnel were contacted and pronounced the victims dead at the scene.
The Los County Department of Medical Examiner identified Deveon Foster, 39, as the first victim. The second man has not yet been identified.
