A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy shot and wounded a domestic violence suspect in Castaic Friday.
Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station deputies responded around 12:10 p.m. Friday to the 28000 block of Sloan Canyon Road regarding a disturbance and shots fired call, and they found the suspect and a woman inside a parked vehicle, according to the sheriff’s department.
The suspect was involved in a domestic situation with the victim as the first responding deputy arrived on scene, sheriff’s officials said. The deputy saw the man draw a gun, prompting the deputy to open fire, according to the sheriff’s department.
The suspect was struck by gunfire and was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Deputies recovered a firearm at the scene, according to the sheriff’s department. No deputies were injured.
