A man, who was a passenger in a Ford, was killed in a two-vehicle, head-on crash with a BMW Saturday in Lancaster that also left two other people hurt with moderate injuries, authorities said.

The Ford was going eastbound on Avenue J when a westbound BMW went into oncoming lanes of traffic and struck the Ford head on, the sheriff’s Lancaster station reported.

Paramedics dispatched at 6:18 a.m to 55th Street East and East Avenue J rushed three people — including one that was trapped inside a vehicle — to Antelope Valley Medical Center, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher.

One of the people was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The two others suffered moderate injuries, according to the county fire department dispatcher.

It was unknown if alcohol, drugs or speed were factors in the crash, the sheriff’s Lancaster station said.

Anyone with any information regarding the crash was urged to call the sheriff’s Lancaster station at 661-948-8466.
