A 34-year-old woman who was struck and killed by a Long Beach Transit bus was identified Thursday.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office identified the victim as Lauren Sjoblom.

Officers were sent to Shoreline Drive and Seventh Street at about 6:55 p.m. Tuesday, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

“The preliminary investigation revealed a Long Beach Transit bus was traveling northbound on Shoreline Drive, south of 7th Street, when it collided with the pedestrian who was in the roadway, outside of a crosswalk,” a police statement said.

“The driver of the bus reported the collision,” police continued. “Long Beach Transit is assisting with the investigation. At this time, speed, distracted driving, and impaired driving do not appear to be factors in the collision.”

The Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and attempted life-saving measures, but Sjoblom was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call Detective David Dougherty at 562-570-7355. Tipsters may also call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS, or use the website www.LACrimeStoppers.org.
