An armed suspect who exchanged gunfire with Los Angeles Police Department officers at a Woodland Hills motel failed to come out and was found dead inside when a SWAT team made entry, authorities said Monday.

The shooting occurred about 10:15 p.m. Sunday at the Vantage Point Inn at Ventura Boulevard and Baza Avenue, LAPD Officer D. Orris told City News Service.

Officers responded to a call of an armed suspect and confronted the man, believed between 40 and 50 years old, Orris said. The man allegedly fired at officers and they fired back.

A SWAT team was summoned when the gunman did not leave the motel, the officer said. When SWAT officers eventually made entry, they found the man dead. The suspect’s weapon was recovered and will be booked as evidence.

An investigation was underway into the shooting by the officers and whether the suspect died in the shooting or shot himself, Orris said.

Ventura Boulevard was closed for the investigation between Don Pio Drive and Canoga Avenue.

  1. How they said in Coachella Valley they were going to give him more rights and responsibilities on. The brother had a gun battle with the LAPD he can’t put that in the paper though but how let’s protector gave black rights right makes any sense. Hell while we were marching in the streets for George Floyd they were slaughtering my family in the desert nobody gave a shit because who cares about a white man losing his family just want a brother has a white man stand on his neck and kill him. By the way he died in Tucson Arizona minimum security prison 22 steps 11 stabs to the liver and 11 stabs to the kidney. By 11 different people. But how they’re going to figure out what happened to his family too right.
