A woman was shot Saturday evening in an unincorporated area near Compton.
The shooting was reported at 7:14 p.m. Saturday in the 14900 block of Stanford Avenue, near Roy Campanella Park and Compton Boulevard, in West Compton, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Tracy Koerner told City News Service.
The original call claimed a man and a woman were shot, but Koerner said only the woman was found wounded.
KCAL 9 reported that a car involved in the case had caught fire, but it was unclear if the woman was in that vehicle.
Paramedics took her to a hospital by ambulance, Koerner said. Her condition was not known.
Information on a suspect and motive were not immediately available.
