A 75-year-old woman killed in a suspected DUI crash involving a 38-year-old Norco man was identified as an investigation continued Monday.

The collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Collett Avenue and Stonewall Drive, according to Riverside police Sgt. Tim Jensen

Cathy Coiner of Riverside was driving a 2005 Jeep Liberty eastbound on Collett Avenue and had slowed to make a left turn when her vehicle was rear-ended by a 2014 Toyota Tundra driven by the Norco resident, according to police and a coroner’s report.

“As a result of the initial collision, the Jeep was pushed into oncoming lanes of traffic where it collided head-on with a red 2014 Toyota C-HR, driven by a 70-year-old male resident of Riverside,” he said.

Paramedics transported Coiner to a hospital, where she died from her injuries, police said.

It was unclear whether the 70-year-old man was injured.

The Norco man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center.

Anyone with information about the crash was urged to contact call the Riverside Police Department at 951-353-7177 or email Detective Matthew Parrish at mwparrish@riversideca.gov.
