Pete Demetriou, Rob Fukuzaki and Joel Grover will get lifetime achievement honors at next month’s Golden Mike Awards, while former KTLA entertainment reporter Sam Rubin will be honored with a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award, organizers said Sunday.

KNX’s Demetriou has reported on Southern California for more than four decades, including the 1994 Northridge earthquake and the 1992 Los Angeles riots. He has won more than two dozen Golden Mikes.

KABC’s Fukuzaki has been covering Southern California sports for three decades, and is in the Southern California Sports Broadcasters Hall of Fame.

Grover is one of the nation’s most honored investigative journalists, with more than four decades in the business, including 22 years at KNBC. His reports on cleanliness at Los Angeles County restaurants led to the establishment of the letter-grade rating system.

Rubin was the entertainment anchor at the KTLA Morning News for more than three decades, during which he interviewed virtually every big name in show business. He was a founder of the Broadcast Film Critics Association, and helped create the Critics Choice Movie Awards.

Rubin was also widely known for hosting red carpet shows for big premieres and awards ceremonies.

He died May 10 at age 64 of a heart attack caused by coronary artery disease. Rubin was last on the air on May 9 and showed no outward signs of illness, according to his co-workers.

The 75th Annual Golden Mike Awards show will be presented on March 29 at the Lowes Hollywood Hotel.

The Golden Mike Awards are presented annually by the nonprofit Radio & Television News Association, which represents broadcast news professionals in Southern California.
