An attempted murder suspect who allegedly stabbed a man in a domestic violence incident was arrested in Riverside Sunday, hours after he fled the scene.

Around 9:20 a.m. Sunday, deputies responded to reports of a stabbing in the 29000 block of Mira Loma Drive in Temecula, according to the Riverside Sheriff’s Office.

Arriving deputies located the victim suffering from traumatic stab wounds and the suspect had fled the scene.

The man was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated and was in a stable condition.

During the investigation, authorities identified the suspect as 51-year-old Ricardo Castro of Los Angeles County, according to the RSO.

Additional specialized units requested from the Riverside County Gang Impact Team and Special Enforcement Bureau K9 Team then located Castro in a vacant field in Temecula. It was unclear when he was found.

Castro was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for attempted murder. Authorities believe the stabbing was potentially related to domestic violence.

Anyone with information regarding the stabbing was asked to contact Deputy Nancy Lopez Munguia or Lead Investigator Wesley Martinelli at 951-696-3000.
