Police Thursday were investigating the fatal shooting a 17-year-old in El Sereno that authorities said was gang-related.
Los Angeles Police Department officers were called around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday to the 3600 block of Randolph Avenue, north of Huntington Drive, where they found the victim on a sidewalk suffering from gunshot wounds, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.
Police said the victim was believed to be a gang member. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Los Angeles County Office of Medical Examiner identified the victim Thursday as Johnathan Werdi.
There were no further details and an investigation of the shooting was continuing.
