At least one person was fatally shot and another wounded in a strip mall shooting in Gardena and an investigation is underway Tuesday.
Officers from the Gardena Police Department responded at 1:40 a.m. to the intersection of Rosecrans and Van Ness avenues regarding a shooting. NBC4 reported a woman, who was driving a white Kia Soul, and another person were shot in the strip mall and video showed police cars surrounding the SUV, which had numerous bullet holes in its body and windshield.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel, NBC4 reported. The second person was taken to a hospital in unknown condition.
Video footage showed police at an apartment complex on Rosecrans, but NBC4 reported it was not known whether the police presence was related to the shooting.
