The Los Angeles Police Department sought public help Thursday in identifying the motorist behind the wheel of a hit-and-run vehicle that fatally struck a bicyclist in South Los Angeles.

The vehicle was speeding on April 20, about 10 p.m., northbound on Central Avenue from 120th Street and struck a bicyclist also northbound on Central, according to a police statement.

Paramedics rushed the bicyclist to a hospital, where the person was later pronounced dead.

Police had no vehicle description. The city of Los Angeles was offering up to $50,000 reward for information leading to the identity, arrest and prosecution of the person responsible for the fatality crash.
