A man was arrested Saturday after he fatally struck a pedestrian with his vehicle in downtown Los Angeles, police said.
Los Angeles Police Department officers were called at 1:53 a.m. Saturday to the intersection of South Main and East Seventh streets regarding a collision that left a victim trapped underneath a Toyota Prius, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.
The victim was pulled from underneath the Prius and taken to a hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel, where he was later pronounced dead, police said. According to reports from the scene, the victim was dragged at least a block before the Prius came to a stop.
The suspect was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said.
