Los Angeles Police Department officers responding to a call of a man with a gun outside a Northridge business shot at a suspect Sunday, prompting an investigation.

The original call was received about 7:45 p.m. Sunday in the 9200 block of Corbin Avenue, south of Plummer Street, LAPD Officer Tony Im told City News Service.

CBS 2 reported responding LAPD officers came face to face with the suspect at 8 p.m. and after a brief pursuit in foot, the officers shot the suspect.

The suspect was taken by ambulance to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the station.

A news videographer at the scene said shots were fired in a parking lot near a restaurant that was open for business and that bullet casings were scattered throughout the parking lot.

There was no description of the alleged gunman other than that he was a man.

The LAPD promised more information will be shared “as it becomes available.”
