Fire damaged a downstairs unit at an apartment building in Leimert Park and a woman was evaluated at the scene, authorities said Sunday.
It was reported at 2:58 a.m. on the 4200 block of South Seventh Avenue, with heavy fire coming from a 16-unit, two-story building, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
A 58-year-old woman was evaluated for possible injury, but no further details were released on her condition.
It took 37 firefighters 22 minutes to put out the flames.
The cause is under investigation.
