Two attempted burglaries were reported overnight in the San Fernando Valley, one involving a homeowner or neighbor opening fire on suspects who broke into a Studio City Home.

An alarm alerted a homeowner around 11 p.m. Sunday that someone had broken into his home on Rye Street near Rhodes Avenue.

Shots were fired at the suspect, but it was not clear if that person was hit. The suspect ran to an awaiting vehicle and was gone by the time officers arrived.

No blood trail was found, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Norma Eisenman.

Investigators were working to confirm the sequence of events and if it was the homeowner or a neighbor who fired at the suspect.

Hours later, four suspects dressed in dark clothing broke into an unoccupied home in Sherman Oaks and fled after the homeowner spotted them on remote security video about 2:20 a.m. Monday and called police.

The suspects were gone from the home in the 4000 block of Longridge Avenue when police arrived, Eisenman said.

It was unclear what, if anything, was taken from the residence.

  1. This is why the San Fernando Valley should become its own city like Burbank and get its own Police department. We can’t survive on the lack of enforcement that is being used mostly in the other parts of LA.
