Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn announced a $20,000 reward offer Monday for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people who killed a 17-year-old high school graduate in Torrance.

Chyler Paton was fatally shot around 9 p.m. June 18 while attending an end-of-school-year pool party at a home in the 23000 block of Huber Avenue. Paton had just graduated from Culver City High School, where he played football.

“This is a parent’s worst nightmare,” Hahn said in a statement announcing the reward offer. “Chyler had an entire life to live until someone viciously cut it short. I cannot imagine the pain that his parents and everyone who loved him are feeling, but we are committed to doing everything we can to bring his killer to justice. Please speak up and help hold them responsible.”

The county Board of Supervisors approved the reward offer last week.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call Torrance police at 310-618-5570.
