A man trying to cross a street in South Los Angeles early Monday was struck and killed by a vehicle whose driver fled.
What police described as “a possible silver (Chevrolet) Tahoe” SUV traveling southbound on San Pedro Street at a high rate of speed hit a pedestrian crossing eastbound on 95th Street at approximately 1:20 a.m. Monday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The driver continued southbound on San Pedro Street following the collision without stopping to render aid to the injured pedestrian, police said.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived at the location a short time later, where they pronounced the man dead at the scene, police said.
