A 31-year-old Costa Mesa man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of homicide after a woman found unresponsive and bleeding in a motel room died in a hospital.

Max Blumencranz was arrested at the motel in the 1500 block of South Coast Drive at Susan Street, where 32-year-old Yu Wang of Laguna Niguel was found at 6 a.m. Monday.

“The cause of death and the nature of how the victim and the arrestee knew each other are still under investigation,” the Costa Mesa Police Department said in a news release. “Detectives are diligently investigating this case and to protect its integrity CMPD will not release any further details.”

The Orange County coroner’s office will determine the cause of Wang’s death, police said.

Investigators planned to submit the case to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.

Investigators asked anyone with information about the death to contact Sgt. J. Jacobi at 714-754-5352 or jjacobi@costamesaca.gov, or Det. C. Jones at 714-754-4873 or cjones@costamesaca.gov.

  1. Max Blumencranz was a car salesman at then Russell Westbrook Hyundai in Anaheim. He’s a crook. He needs to stay locked up.
