One person was killed and another injured Wednesday morning when two Ford Mustangs collided head-on in Canyon Country.
The collision was reported at about 5:30 a.m. on Sierra Highway just north of Vasquez Canyon Road, according to Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez of the California Highway Patrol’s Newhall-area office.
Early reports to the CHP indicated one of the vehicles struck a pole.
Burgos-Lopez said one person was pronounced dead at the scene and a second was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, but an update on that person’s condition was not immediately available, nor were the ages and genders of the involved parties.
Officers were at the hospital and the crash scene investigating the collision and a stretch of Sierra Highway remained closed nearly five hours after the fatal wreck.
