An assault left a man unconscious at a rail station in the Florence-Graham area near South Los Angeles Tuesday, interrupting train service along a busy Metro route.
The attack, reported as an assault with a deadly weapon, was reported at 7:12 a.m. Tuesday at Metro’s Florence Station at 7225 Graham Ave., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies found the victim severely beaten, according to the watch commander at the sheriff’s Century Station.
It was not clear what, if any weapon was used in the attack.
The man was taken to a hospital, but an update on his condition was not available early Tuesday afternoon.
The response and investigation halted service on Metro’s A (Blue) Line between the Slauson and Firestone stations. A bus shuttle was deployed and Metro’s J Line and Line 55 buses along Compton Avenue offered the best alternatives to riders, according to the transit agency.
A detailed description of the man who beat the victim was not immediately available.
