A motorcycle rider traveling the wrong way collided head-on with a California Highway Patrol officer in Lancaster, the CHP said Saturday.

CHP officers responded at 11:20 p.m. Friday to the Avenue G exit of the southbound Antelope (14) Freeway where they found the motorcycle rider and the officer, the CHP said.

The motorcyclist sustained unknown injuries and was taken to a hospital in an unknown condition by Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics, CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig told City News Service.

The CHP officer was not injured, Kravig added .
