Two men were found fatally wounded at the Los Angeles-Glendale Water Reclamation Plant in Atwater Village Tuesday morning.

Officers responded at 5:55 a.m. Tuesday to the plant in the 4600 block of Colorado Boulevard, just east of the Golden State (5) Freeway, and found a man with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman said.

A second man was also found with a gunshot wound at the location. He too was pronounced dead at the scene, police said later.

Both men were city sanitation employees, Mayor Karen Bass said in a statement issued Tuesday night.

“My heart breaks for this loss of life,” Bass said in the statement. “My office has deployed our Crisis Response Team to provide support to employees and the Personnel Department is making mental health counselors available.”
