A 24-year-old man was killed in a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV on the eastbound Artesia (91) Freeway in Bellflower Wednesday morning that caused a significant traffic backup.
The crash was reported about 7:30 a.m. just west of the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, a CHP officer confirmed.
He was later identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner as Rigoberto Ruiz Raygoza.
The carpool and far left lane were closed for the emergency response and investigation, backing up traffic to the Long Beach (710) Freeway, which prompted the issuance of a SigAlert.
