A burglary suspect who wrestled with police while armed with a metal pole after he broke into a Winnetka-area apartment Tuesday morning was shot in an arm by at least one officer.

LAPD officers responded at approximately 2:11 a.m. Tuesday to an apartment complex in the 2000 block of Saticoy Street and Oso Avenue regarding a 911 call, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Kevin Terzes told City News Service.

Another officer at the scene told reporters the LAPD got multiple 911 calls reporting that a man had broken into the complex.

The suspect was found with a large metal pole that he would not drop and after a Taser failed to subdue him, he was shot during a struggle with several officers.

It was unclear how many officers opened fire and how many shots were fired.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

A resident who was in the apartment the suspect allegedly broke into sustained minor injuries and was treated at a hospital and released, according to a broadcast report.
