A man was killed in a crash involving a big rig and a sedan on the Golden State (5) Freeway in the Arleta area of Los Angeles, authorities said Monday.
The crash was reported at 3:43 a.m. Sunday on the northbound Golden State Freeway just south of the Osborne Street offramp and near the Hollywood (170) Freeway interchange, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A man was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP reported. It was unclear which vehicle the deceased had been in.
He was later identified as 25-year-old Donovan Chapman, according to the Medical Examiner’s office. His city of residence was not provided.
A SigAlert shut down all northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway at the Hollywood Freeway split during the crash investigation and cleanup.
