Firefighters Saturday worked to put out a smoky fire inside a vacant commercial building in the Broadway-Manchester area of South Los Angeles.

The fire was reported in a 2,500-square-foot building around 3:30 p.m. Saturday at 9145 S. Broadway at 91st Place, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Jennifer Middleton.

“After initially struggling to find the seat of the fire due to the dense smoke, a well-coordinated roof operation allowed firefighters to locate and extinguish the commercial blaze in 36 minutes,” Middleton said.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was not immediately known, she said.
