Authorities continued their search Friday for a driver who fled the scene after a pedestrian was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash in Riverside.
The collision was reported shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday at El Sobrante Road, east of Mockingbird Canyon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
When officers arrived, they found a man lying in the eastbound lanes of El Sobrante Road, CHP Officer Javier Navarro said.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined the man was struck by a vehicle that did not stop, Navarro said.
The Riverside County coroner’s office identified the victim Friday as Ronney Vasquez, 61, of Moreno Valley.
